Routines are standing tasks the Queen runs on a schedule, using the same colony, browser and authority as everything else. They run from the menu bar while the window is closed, and wait for you whenever they need a yes.
A day has 96 quarter hours.
A routine's schedule is a 24-hour pin timer. Each pin is 15 minutes (a routine can run as often as every 5 minutes). Push a pin in and the colony runs at that time; when it passes the index, the lamp lights.
Try , or . Click pins to make your own, or drag the dial through the day.
Close the window. The colony keeps going.
The menu bar ant
Closing the window keeps the colony running. The ant in the menu bar opens the app, your routines or quits. Turn on Open at login in Settings.
Notifications when it needs you
Anything that needs your yes waits and sends a Mac notification. Nothing risky happens just because you were away.
Browsing without stealing focus
A routine that browses shows the window without taking focus while it works, since pages only draw in a visible window.
Your key, kept safe
Your model provider key is kept in the app, encrypted with the macOS Keychain, so routines run while you're away. Demo routines need no key.
Questions
How often can a routine run?
Daily at a time, every N hours, or on a cron schedule, as often as every 5 minutes.
Does my Mac need to be awake?
The app has to be running, but not its window: closing the window keeps the colony working from the menu bar. A run missed while the Mac slept happens once on wake.
What happens when a routine needs my approval?
It waits, and the app sends a Mac notification. Budgets and the colony's authority apply to routines exactly as they do to tasks you start yourself.
Where do the results go?
To the Archive, where you can read them and where follow-up tasks can build on them.
Put tomorrow morning on a timer.
Download the app and watch a simulated colony work, no key needed. Add your own key when you want it working for you.
